The main difference between the bicuspid valve and tricuspid valve is in their location within the heart and the number of flaps they have:
- Bicuspid valve (mitral valve): The bicuspid valve is located between the left atrium and the left ventricle of the heart. It has two flaps, also known as cusps, that open and close to regulate blood flow between the two chambers.
- Tricuspid valve: The tricuspid valve is located between the right atrium and the right ventricle of the heart. It has three flaps that open and close to regulate blood flow between the two chambers.
The bicuspid valve is located on the left side of the heart and has two flaps, while the tricuspid valve is located on the right side of the heart and has three flaps.
