- Vedanta Resources Limited – Vedanta has bauxite mines in the states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The company also operates an alumina refinery and an aluminum smelter in the state of Odisha.
Apart from these major players, several small-scale producers also contribute to the bauxite production in India.
The production and distribution of bauxite in India are regulated by the Ministry of Mines, and the production data is regularly published by the Indian Bureau of Mines. India also exports bauxite to other countries, including China and the United Arab Emirates. The production and export of bauxite are important for the Indian economy and contribute significantly to the country’s GDP.
