Dadabhai Naoroji

Dadabhai Naoroji was a prominent Indian nationalist leader, social reformer, and scholar who played a significant role in the Indian independence movement. He was born on September 4, 1825, in Bombay (now Mumbai) and passed away on June 30, 1917, in London. He is often referred to as the “Grand Old Man of India.”

Early Life and Education

Dadabhai Naoroji is also known for his famous theory of the “Drain of Wealth.” In his book, “Poverty and Un-British Rule in India,” Naoroji argued that the British were exploiting India’s resources and siphoning off the wealth of the country to Britain. This theory had a significant impact on the Indian nationalist movement and helped to galvanize support for Indian independence.

Social Reforms
