National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination (UPSC NDA Exam): Everything You Need to Know

The National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination (NDA/NA) is a competitive exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for admission to the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the Naval Academy (NA). The NDA is located in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra, and the NA is located in Ezhimala, Kerala.

Pattern of Exam

The NDA/NA Examination is a two-stage exam:

Stage 1: The Stage 1 exam is a written exam that is conducted in two parts:

Part I: This part consists of questions on Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

Part II: This part consists of questions on English, General Knowledge, and Current Affairs.

Stage 2: The Stage 2 exam is a Service Selection Board (SSB) interview. The SSB interview is a psychological test that assesses the candidate’s suitability for a career in the armed forces.

Eligibility

To be eligible to appear for the NDA/NA Examination, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Age: Candidates must be between 16 and 19 years of age on the 1st of July of the year in which they are applying.
Nationality: Candidates must be either a citizen of India or a Gorkha refugee.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
